Come with Me to fish for Golden Dorado!

This post is a formal announcement that I am hosting a trip to Don Joaquín River Lodge in Northern Argentina for golden dorado in the fall of 2027. The date is set for November 7th through the 12th with a few days on either side for travel. It will be a minimum of 10 days with five days of fishing on the Paraná and Corriente River. The time at the lodge which includes guided fishing, food, drink, and luxury accommodations is $4,950 for the 6 day and 5 night stay. What is not included would be the flight into and out of Buenos Aires, any extra nights in BA, and meals or items purchased on your own. You will also have to supply your own gear or rent it from the lodge. This all might sound confusing, but as the host, I will have detailed packing lists and itineraries for those who are coming. I will also have scheduled fly tying classes and casting classes as well. This way you are totally prepared to get after these incredible fish! I am looking for seven anglers to join me on this adventure.

If all of that sounds like something you would be interested in please keep reading and reach out to me through the contact page or at garrettlesko@gmail.com.

Getting down to Buenos Aires isn’t hard. There just isn’t a direct flight out of Portland, but DFW, MIA, ATL, and others fly directly to EZE. Most flights are in the middle of the night so you can attempt to get some sleep on the 9-10 hour flight. The recommendation is to get into Buenos Aires the morning before our overnight luxury bus trip to the lodge. Because the trip is in the fall (spring time for the southern hemisphere) there can be inclement weather that can affect the Southeast and the Gulf. You need a bit of a buffer. At the lodge you can enjoy the pool, a massage, or and some relaxation and we get ready to fish. After that we will enjoy five days of insane fishing. If the fishing is too much you can always take a day or half day break and go on a 4×4 safari to see capybaras, snakes, birds, and caiman, hang out with gauchos, go on a horse back ride, swim, have some drinks, or just rest and get a massage. After great fishing, good company, and wonderful accommodation we travel in reverse to get back home.

In the months leading up to the trip guests that have paid their deposit will have opportunities to receive some casting lessons through the Rivers West Casting Club in Salem, Oregon. They will also have the opportunity to have tying sessions with me where you can learn the tips and tricks to keeping your flies durable and alluring to golden dorado. I also will have discount codes for custom materials to help tie flies suited for dorado and a discount on other materials needed for those styles of patterns.

Now all you have left is to reach out to be one of the seven anglers that get to take a trip of a lifetime! We are filling spots now and taking deposits so please reach out and I’m looking forward to see you on the water.
